" I will give anything that you wanted. "

I want the skates.

But, the desire grew on him.
" If my wish should be realized,
I wish the small kindness which I did would move the heart of the people.
I wish it generate the big wave all over the world,
and lovers confirm love each other, and the family refresh a bond.
Even if a poor, even if not handsome,
I wish a person who have family will be proud of his love.
Even if beautiful, even if rich,
I wish a cold person have it fast reminded
to be doing an irrecoverable thing by that coldness.
If the people will be given a chance
to confirm each other a gotten love as irreplaceable thing,
I want nothing. "

" If I get that order, a golden sled is very better than it.
I was distributing the presents to children until now.

老人は、彼の手柄を称え、
何でも欲しい物を上げようと言いました。
何が良いかな。スケート靴も欲しいし、絵の道具も欲しい。
釣の道具も欲しいし、海峡を渡れるほどの小舟も良いな。
少年は、始めは、いろいろと欲しい物を思い浮かべました。子供らしく。
でも、欲が出てきました。
もしも
何かひとつ望みが叶えられるとしたら、
わたしがやった小さな親切が、
人の心を動かしますように。
世界中に大きな波を起こして、
恋人たちが愛を確かめ合い、
家族が、絆を新たにしますように。
たとえ貧しくても、それほど美男子ではなかっても、
家族のいる人が、その愛を誇りに思えるように。
どんなに美しくても、どんなに金持ちでも、
冷淡な人が、その冷淡さによって、取り返しのつかない事をしている事に、
早く気付かせて上げられますように。
多くの人が、手にした愛を、
かけがえのないものとして確かめ合う機会が与えられれば、
わたしは 欲しいものは 何もありません。

そんな注文を聞くくらいだったら、
黄金の橇の方がよっぽどましだ。
私はこれまで、子供たちにプレゼントを配って来た。
それは、子供たちの無邪気な笑顔が見たいからだ。
家族の絆とか、恋人たちが愛を確かめるとか、
そんな事は知った事ではない。
